   Introduction
In order to serve the national strategy for rural revitalization, popularize earth science knowledge, help transformation and development of geological survey, promote the construction of geological culture villages (towns) and standardize the development and utilization of selenium￾rich lands, Geological Society of China will carry out review and awarding of geological culture villages (towns) and declaration and recognition of natural selenium-rich land in 2020.
➤Review and Awarding of Geological Culture Villages (Towns)
The geological culture villages (towns) refer to livable and employable characteristic villages (towns) formed by relying on geological resources endowment, combination such resources with the construction of villages and towns, through deep excavation of geological science and culture, to develop characteristic industry and economy and enhance living quality and cultural connotation of villages and towns. The construction of such villages can be based on Guideline for Construction of Geological Culture Villages (Towns) (Trial) prepared jointly by Ministry of Natural Resources, China Geological Survey and Geological Society of China and the review and awarding and supervision management are in the charge of Geological Society of China.
➤Appraisal of Natural Selenium-rich Soil
Natural selenium-rich lands refer to such lands containing rich natural selenium, with toxic heavy metal elements less than the screening value of soil pollution risk of the farmland. The lands to be declared, recognized and identified shall meet requirements of Delineation and Identification of Natural Selenium-Rich Lands (DD 2019-10) formulated by Ministry of Natural Resources, China Geological Survey. Geological Society of China is responsible for accepting the declaration and organizing the review, recognition and identification management of national natural selenium-rich lands.
